What is Selank / Semax Blend?

The Selank / Semax Blend is a single co-lyophilized vial containing two synthetic heptapeptides — 10 mg of Selank and 10 mg of Semax. Selank (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic analog of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, in which a Pro-Gly-Pro motif has been appended at the C-terminus to improve metabolic stability. Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic analog of the ACTH(4-10) fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone, likewise extended with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro sequence. Both peptides are derived from endogenous human sequences and have been investigated in preclinical and exploratory clinical models of neuroregulation and neuroimmune signaling. This product is supplied as a lyophilized powder for research use only and is not for human consumption.

Mechanism of Action

The two peptides in this blend have been studied for distinct but complementary research mechanisms. Selank has been investigated for modulation of GABAergic neurotransmission and the expression of genes involved in GABA signaling, as well as for effects on monoamine and enkephalin systems and neuroimmune mediators such as interleukins and brain-derived neurotrophic factor in preclinical models. Semax, as an ACTH(4-10) analog devoid of corticotropic activity, has been examined for neuroprotective and neurotrophic activity, including regulation of BDNF and trkB expression in the hippocampus and modulation of dopaminergic and serotonergic systems in rodent studies. The shared C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro motif of both peptides is associated with increased resistance to enzymatic degradation. These mechanisms are described solely in the context of laboratory research and have not been established for any therapeutic use in humans.

Published Research

Selank and GABAergic Signaling

Filatova et al. (2017) reported that GABA, Selank, and olanzapine altered the expression of genes involved in GABAergic neurotransmission in IMR-32 neuroblastoma cells, supporting a role for Selank in modulating GABA-related signaling pathways [1].

Semax and Neurotrophic Regulation

Dolotov et al. (2006) demonstrated that Semax, an ACTH(4-10) analog with reported cognitive effects, regulated BDNF protein levels and trkB tyrosine phosphorylation in the rat hippocampus, correlating with avoidance-learning performance [2].

Semax and Neuroprotection

Levitskaya et al. (2004) observed that intranasal administration of Semax reduced the severity of behavioral disturbances in a rodent model of MPTP-induced lesions of the brain dopaminergic system, supporting investigation of its neuroprotective properties [3].

Frequently Asked Questions

It is a single research vial containing two synthetic heptapeptides co-lyophilized together: 10 mg of Selank and 10 mg of Semax. Both are short peptides derived from endogenous human sequences and supplied for laboratory research use only.

Both are heptapeptides that share a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro motif added to a biologically derived parent sequence. Selank is built on a tuftsin fragment (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) and Semax on the ACTH(4-10) fragment (Met-Glu-His-Phe), with the Pro-Gly-Pro extension associated with greater resistance to enzymatic breakdown.

In published preclinical literature, Selank has been studied in the context of anxiolytic, nootropic, and neuroimmune research, while Semax has been examined for neuroprotective and nootropic activity. All such work is exploratory and conducted in laboratory or animal models.

Each peptide in the blend is supplied at ≥99% purity as determined by analytical testing. The product is a lyophilized powder intended strictly for research.

No. This product is sold for research use only and is not for human consumption, diagnostic, or therapeutic use. It is intended exclusively for in-vitro and laboratory research by qualified professionals.

The lyophilized powder should be stored at -20°C. Once reconstituted, the solution should be kept refrigerated at 2-8°C. Proper storage helps preserve peptide integrity for research.
